Foobar2000 - heard from a mate who is a sound technician at Mission speakers, that this has a better decompression algorithm than windows media player etc etc for mp3`s. I tried it and the sound is rather more mellow, not as full of high tinny sounds and the bass is better defined.

Its ferfree - takes a little getting used to but uses less than 1/3rd memory than windows media player.

The phrase 'decompression algorithm' had me thrown there

Surely it is the compression method that matters first, the decompression can only work with what is there in the first place?
