The woolies one relies on you waching the little coulerd led lights and has no voice warnings also you have to pay a yearly fee
The snooper type is a radar detector and they pick up every thing from banks alarm systems garages to trafic lights they are also looking into banning radar detectors soon and they dont detect specs cameras. A new motorway camara that works out your average speed, between to set points a mile or so apart, it checks everything that passes it and is linked to the DVLA computer, and sends out fines automaticly, no film to run out and no flash from the camera .
The GPS is the way to go and gives you your real speed, you would be suprised how inacurate most car spedos are

Well mine has arived

It is a nice little silver job and she has a very plesant voice she even gives you a time check on the hour.
So far she has spoted every camera giving good notice and even warns you of likley mobile trap areas.

The main issue in this area are constantly moving talivans - the mobile things. As they effectively flag every major road as a possible camera area these things cry wolf so often youd be paranoid on every single road so the GPS warning is useless as too many areas. The only real solution to stop the velocity tax here is an (illegal) laser jammer.

I downloaded and imported the Safety camera locations into Microsoft Autoroute, with a view to using them on routes with the pocket gps didn't realise there were that many. The drawbacks to get it to alert you have to set them up as waypoints, as my current toy was bought for dive site locations it doesn't give a voice warning just a visual diplay.

I heard that the radar detectors are illegal in france and that the police can confiscate them off you, also uk ban in pipeline. The one Wackers on about is the cheapest i've seen.

Progres report!

Just got back from a trip to Lyme Regis Micro Fuzion worked a treat after driving for 2 hours it asks you if you need a rest and gave hourly time checks these seem like a good way of keeping you awake!
It gave 500 yard warnings of every fixed camera and red light camera and told me of likley mobile sites including temporary cameras on M5 road works all I can say is so far money well spent.
