Help on Posting a video

Right I have a movie clip of Digger singing on the Shirala on the YD Gig which I am sure people would love to see.

It is a QT .mov file.

Suggestions on how I could do it would be great.

Mark, I've used www.putfile.com for QT .mov files. Seems to work OK - check it out.

Not Digger and his singing again. I had to turn his loop off to get him to be quiet. He didn't sing again for the rest of the dive...

Unfortunately I have just checked the video again and I didn't catch the singing but he can be seen digging around the wreck!!!!

If you wish to embed it into a web page on your site the the basic code is

<EMBED SRC="Sample.mov" HEIGHT=144 WIDTH=160>

Where "Sample.Mov" is the file name of your movie and the 144 : 160 is the dimensions of the screen size you wish to display.

If you want to start adding features like auto play or controls then best to read up on the apple web site

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/embed.html

It will require your target audience to have Quick Time player on their pc tho.

I you just need a quick and easy way to share then place it on http://www.putfile.com/ as Tom mentioned...

Thanks Tom, I'll have to check it out this evening on the home PC. Work firewall is blocking the site as tasteless for some reason!!

Can the embed source be a url, ie so the embed window appears in a post but the file is elsewhere...... {ummm thinks for a minute}, that would mean everything time you open the post it downloads the file correct? Maybe a link would be better methinks!!

Hi,

I found the easiest way to run video from my site was to just put a button with a link to the file. Although i use .wmv i think this should work for any format. The player just opens automatically.
The are about 20 vids on the site if anyone wants to take look. If anyone wants to donate then drop me a line on info@divelife.co.uk. The idea was to build up an online underwater video database which is free to access for all.
