Arrow 'Vista': Microsoft's New Name for Windows

Yep, ladies and gentlemen, the new name for the next version of Windows (codenamed Longhorn) will be ;

Windows Vista.

Hmm. Better than using Years I suppose. So we'll all be upgrading our Windows XP's to Windows Vista at the end of 2006 if Microsoft have their way.

Mark.

Well I'm still on W2000 and no intention of any upgrade. How big is the footprint? (As no doubt it has all manner of uneeded whistles and bells and bug-laden holes for the virus writers to exploit).

Hi Bantam

As far as I know there's still been no official announcement, but rumours are flying becuase MS have purchased several "Vista" domains. They have always said they will not confirm a name until much later in the development cycle. Do you have a url to an official announcement?

Microsoft has decided on an official name for Longhorn: Windows Vista. That's according to sources close to the company who requested anonymity. They said that Microsoft unveiled the name in Atlanta on Thursday at the company's internal sales event, known as the Microsoft Global Sales Briefing, or MGB.
