| Thanks Nick, a simple answer, it just makes me wonder as to why we aren't roaming anyway!!! It'll soon be a thing of the past, we are supposed to be getting IBM finkpads, T42 model. All singing and all dancing 3G etc etc. Although seeing is believing!!! Would that be the one that you had at LIDS earlier in the year? Quote:

| FWIW I made the policy decision to change from Dell D600 laptops to IBM T42's about 6 months ago at our place because the Dells were ending up with abysmal return rates. About 90% of our fleet of D600 laptops have been serviced for one thing or another in the last couple of years. (Mainly hard disk failures or motherboard faults). In one case the dell engineer replaced a motherboard and nicked the Bluetooth module at the same time! We never got it back even though I called Dell loads of times. The T42's are great. Reliable, bomb proof and quick - may not be the prettiest or cheapest thing out there, but takes alot of beating. I just hope Lenovo don't break their good record. (Saying that, I still prefer my Powerbook! On the subject of Roaming profiles - the biggest killer is people creating PST Archive files in Outlook and also (dependent on version) Internet Cache which it copies. (Plus saving to desktop as And pointed out). I've recently learnt that you can streamline the roaming profiles by adding a registry entry to exclude certain subdirectories from the profile copy process which is mega helpful and speeds things up no-end. Mark.
