Hehe, thanks for the offer but it's gone and paid for now If you're interested though, it was a Pinnacle PCTV 100e (a USB TV card) for £34.99. I think the cheapest elsewhere was £60-£65. Don't quite know why PC World is so much cheaper, they're not usually, but i'm not complaining about the price!

I guarantee within 2 weeks of it arriving you'll be sent a reminder that you've not taken out an extended warranty and you've still got time to do this for a bargin price of £30.00....

I (foolishly) bought an ex-demo PC and separate monitor a few years ago from one of their stores. No hassles with the kit, and opted for a better Sony monitor that was a Manager's special (i.e. reduced to match web prices elsewhere).

It took about 30 mins of argument to convince the numpties that I did not need to buy the 3 years extended warranty, and I really did know what I was saying, and no I'm sure I don't want it etc etc.

A week later I got the offer to purchase the extended cover etc. - as both PC and monitor were separate items, I got offered 2 packages instead of a combined one, and the terms of cover for the monitor were worse than the 3 yr warranty included in the price of the Sony....

Sony did a next business day swap out, nice shiny new one on the doorstep the next day for 3 years. PC World wanted me to pay again to have a service where I'd have to lug the CRT into their store and get some crappy replacement in the meantime....

good luck with your purchase and hope you have many hours of productivity at your PC whilst actually watching the daytime TV in a little window in the corner of your screen!

Hehe - I will do! The life of a student eh! Anyway, it means for the 2 interesting programmes on each week I can watch them without getting a separate TV license, so long as i'm running the laptop on battery power. Handy! (And yes i've checked with TV-Licensing and its definitely legal, coz I thought it seemed like a bit of a dodgy loophole, but apparently its fine - woohoo!) :O)

Cheers for the offer to help though, much appreciated.

David

They've redeemed themselves! :D

Hurray, rather surprisingly it arrived on Friday (ordered Monday). Seems like their website underestimates what they are capable of.

It did still take 3 days to find it in their warehouse and stick a stamp on it, and I very nearly paid extra for the "express" delivery which would have been delivered (guaranteed) next Monday!

But it arrived in 4 days and I've got my little telly so i'm happy now :O)

So, if anyone ever buys anything from the PC World website, *DON'T* pay for express delivery!!!
