Which BUSINESS braodband provider?

My Companies ISP is Free Online and I am considering upgrading to one of their Broadband services.

£40 one off join up fee + £19.99 per month.
It will be an 8mb service but is currently running at 2mb.

We are entitled to download up to 1gb of stuff per month. It will cost an extra £1.25 per 1gb per motnh in excess of the 1gb limit.

Anyone aware of anything better priced?

1GB mothly download limit is very low for an 8MB service (but don't quote me on that). I have a 1MB service with NTL and get 3GB monthly download limit. They are currently doing 1MB for £9.99 per month for the first year NTL World

I know there are as cheaper/better services, but I personally have had no problems over the years that I have had a broadband service with them.

Martin,

Is that a 'business service' or a 'home service'?

Bryan

[edit] Ignore that - I just followed the link and it is not a business service. A small business is likely to download less than a home user so why do they charge business more?

Business pay more because they expect a different level of service. If you are having problems and you are on a home user account the provider doesn't really care. The amount you pay means if they speak to you on the phone then they are no longer making money out of you.

With a business if your line is off and you need it to operate then you want a provider who is willing to talk to you and will offer support to get you back up and running.

Nothing to stop a business buying a home user account but the risk is that if you have problems you'll spend more time without service which could be costing you money!

Cheers
Al

I use Force 9 and have just set up a Premier account with them on a business line and they didn't bat an eyelid. Free activation, free hardware (although setting that up was a challenge), unlimited email addresses, unlimited downloads. All for 21.99 per month. They will eventually do the same 8Mb service that everyone else does and you can upgrade to it later.
