and you don't get stupid viruses and issues like the C++ one you've just experienced
why don't you recommend she put Linux on instead - then she won't have to change hardware to get the benefits a Mac will bring (in your opinion).

When you switch your PC on you should hear a beep as it's powering up. If you push the [F8] function key immediately after the beep you should get a menu pop up. On the menu is the SAFE MODE option.

The safe mode can be good if you get major problems ..........
