    YD Podcasting?

I've got a long drive south tomorrow for work so I've just downloaded some scuba podcasts from Pod Diver Radio using iTunes. For those of you not 'iPod'd up' podcats are amateurish radio shows that you can download and listen to on your iPod.
[*]Dive Deep, dive hardcore ... scuba diving in your iPod.[*]The POD DIVER Scubacast for the week of 13 AUG 2005.[*]Rebreathers: CCR and Semi-Closed. Interview with IANTD Instructor Trainer Jim Masters. [*]THE CAVE MOVIE. Interview with Jill Heinerth. Jill was the underwater coordinator on the film. She also was a technical consultant, instructor to the actors and stunt double.[*]Don Tipton's tips on Black & White Underwater Photography.[*]Ariel the diving teen, reviews the movie "The Cave"[*]Recollections of NOLA and GulfPort.[*]Sound Scene Tour of a wreck dive trip on the Dive Boat Sea Lion.[*]Interview with Capt Dan Crowell[*]Joe Cocozza talks about underwater video. [*]2.Dan Crowell talks about Underwater World War 2.[*]Mixed Gas Diving [*]Membrane Nitrox mixing systems.[*]Dan Crowell talks about CCRs[*]DEMA 2005 (Las Vegas) wrap up. Joe and Don Tipton talk about the show. Rescue diver Rachel helps out in the studio. We meet Dave a loyal listener . Sound scene tour of the DEMA floor. [*]Dr. Richard Vann of Divers Alert Network discusses hyperbaric science and tech diving. [*]Interview with Karl Shreeves of PADI DSAT; Physical Fitness and the technical diver.[*]Pod Diver Admin. Discuss possible charter trips including: Scapa Flow, North Carolina and New Jersey Shipwrecks.[*]Interview Dr. Bruce Weinki Los Alomos Nat Labs. Review KISS CCR from Jetsam Technolgies.

I'll be using my iPod with my iTrip radio transmitter. Haven't listened to any of them yet, don't want to spoil the excitement. Bit worried about it being full of US BS though. Which got me thinking..............

What if the list I had downloaded had been a YD Podcast:

[*]David A's Galapogos trip report.[*]Treasures of the Kyarra.[*]Mr T's roundup of this week's diving news.[*]Mark's Visit to the Chamber.

Had a look at how to do it and it's not that difficult. Somebody fancy a shot?

    Hi,

I've had a look on the site and for the life of me can't find the downloads. I use IPodder (http://ipodder.sourceforge.net/index.php) to manage my subcriptions to various free podcasts I download regularly (using XML). Does this site offer free downloads and can you provide a link to them?

    Cheers

    Ian

    Podcasting

I've made a few, and will happily explain all if there's a wish. I've just experimented so far, but have plans for "soundsseeing" tours of Delft and stuff like that as well as trip reports and things.

Anyway, http://trocnet.net is my shameful blog

Jag, I haven't used anything other than iTunes Music Store yet. It's there if you do a search under the word scuba. Don't get too excited though the first 5 podcasts weren't very intersting. There was an interview with an underwater photography expert that was OK. This chap has got some really annoying kids.
I'll let post again if it gets any more interesting.

I'm pretty sure YD could do a much better job.

A sort of YD diving "Home Truths" every Sat morning?
Old divers never die - they just go down on old wrecks.

Dumb question I know, being as these are designed to be played on an ipod, which I don't have, but can they be played on regular PC media players/winamps etc ?

So long as they are in MP3 format, and your player of choice supports this, then it shouldn't be a problem at all.

If you are interested, Chris Moyles, Chris Evans and Tim Lovejoy provide "Best Bits of" podcasts of their shows, these are the main ones I download on a weekly basis. If you need further info, just ask.

    Cheers,

    Ian
