It just seems to miss some, entirely at random as well, I can send to and fro to DIRZONE for example and then suddenly some just seem to get "held" until I get them later at home.
Yep, work set to send receive auto every 3mins, home not at all. (I changed that thinking it might help, they were both set the same before) No joy.
Mrs Nickers has been order off mail during the day, no change.
Bloody frustrating because some people mail at say 7am and I dont get it till 7pm sometimes. On odd occasions it even delivers mail from the previous day FFS.
Could it just be a crap host ?
Cheers all for the help though it is MUCH appreciated.
Both machines were (until just now) set to delete mails after retreival, I've changed the home one now to leave a copy on the server. In the vain hope that if the office one is set to delete then that might help ? Or have I lost the feckin plot ?
I HATE COMPUTERS !
I'm off to bed before this needs moving to the Rants section
Cheers all again for your help
If you are going to use both computers to retrive your email you are going to be best to set both of them not to delete you mail that way you will get your mail at both locations with out one deleting the mail before the other one has got it. you could ask your mail provider if you can get your mail using imap as they do have a imap server which would be better for you as you get your mail from more than one location. imap keeps the mail on the server and allows you to access it via a imap client best way of keeping mail IMHO.
hope that makes sence BTW

Sorry Phil forgot this one!

Sounds like a crap host/ISP problem to me. E-mail is usually very quick but is by no means instantanious. I've known some mail be held up for 24 hours+ due to mail server problems. That said if your consistantly loosing mail you could try the stuff below.

If the webmail says no mail then you can be 99.99% sure there is no mail there to download. Your webmail looks directly at your mailbox on your ISP's mail server. I would suggest checking webmail before you leave the office to check for mail. Then check webmail from home when you get there before you open outlook. If the webmail shows e-mail but outlook doesn't download anything then you have a problem but I doubt that will happen.

Finally if you want to check exactly when a problem e-mail reached your ISP then give me a call mate and I'll talk you through checking the mail headers. These will show when the mail hit each server.
