One possible explanation - seller was genuine punter, got scammed and divulged his ebay log-in, reported this to ebay who then pulled his account for safety. Less panicy now? Or plan b - seller was as crooked as a crooked thing, offloaded the proceeds of their latest ram raid on ebay but just made it to the post office to ship everything before the sweeney came and turned over his lock up. Boys in blue trace the gear to ebay and get the account locked to stop him offloading anything else and are now hot on the heels of all the dodgy gear he's shipped to reclaim it and return it to the rightful owner.... Still less panicy?

or it could be that they track emails to / from bidders and sellers on non completed items to try to prevent selling outside. in theory he should have relisted with a lower reserve and reauctioned

Or he forgot to pay his ebay subs on time. Happened to me once due to changing credit cards. All your listings are pulled and same message is sent to bidders on your items. This is probably the most likely as if he was scamming he would not have sent the goods out. In any case as you received the goods seems honest enough. Send an email asking what's up as you might want to trade again. Cheers, Gary.

Go straight to your account, not via the address in the email, and check if it is in "your messages". I get lots of emails "from ebay" asking me to confirm account details, asking questions about fictitious sales and referring to transactions. I don't think the freekers have ever attached me to a genuine transaction yet but it wouldn't be too hard. |

I had a similar problem late last year, I made and bid, won and paid for a cracked copy of TomTom software, I then received an email from eBay saying they had received a complaint about the seller and had withdrawn the item, they advised me not to complete the sale I asked for details and was told they couldn't provide them. I contacted the seller and told him, I got the item no problem apparently he had used a picture which belong to someone else and they objected. As long as you get copies of the email in your "My eBay" then they should be OK.
