Oh God, Not That Old Chestnut!
Has anyone any experience of NTL Cable broadband?
I have got NTL cable television and telephone and seem to be getting a good service but am using BT for my broadband and business phone lines. However after being given a load of crap from BT about the line problems I am having (further to my last post on this topic) with my broadband service I am at the point where I'm prepared to use a loft full of carrier pidgeons to try and obtain consistent communications.
My BT broadband runs fine for weeks and then the line gets noise problems which cuts off the broadband and the phone. It was so bad tonight I actually tape recorded the noise from the speaker on the phone.
When I talk to the engineers they spout all the usual crap about microfilters etc-------yeah yeah done all that, and it finishes up where they do a line test (after the line noise has abated) and then tell me the line is good but for an engineer to come out and check it I will be charged.
So, I am thinking of giving NTL a try and was interested to see if anyone else has any experiences with their service. Bearing in mind I will not be routing via BT lines but using my dedicated NTL cable connection.
Any help/advice will be welcome but specifically if anyone is using NTL via their cable network.

I am on NTL and have never had a problem with the broadband at all. The one problem I had was when the set top box went TU, they replaced it and I had to reregister my PC with the new set top box.

Me too...been on NTL for a couple of years now. Dial up was a bit dodgy but the last 12 months on broadband I've had no problems.

Not me, but several of my mates use NTL for broadband. They tell me that it's usually pretty good, but on the occasions where you have a problem you're screwed as their customer service processes have been designed by cluster of colourblind hedgehogs...... in a bag.

Five points to anyone who can identify where that last phrase comes from

Frankie, we are on broadband with NTL and it is fine - the phones are a bit dodgy at the moment though - I need to ring up about that (how do I do that then? ) next week and get it sorted.

Been on broadband ntl for several years no complaints
Their IT support has been v good
Customers services are not quite so good

Yep been on ntl for a few years now. Had a few problems when they upgraded to 10MB but all seems stable again now. Only have phone and broadband so use a stand alone modem.

NTL broadband has been pretty good to me, with only a couple of short term outages of various bits of service (internet, mail server)

Got a bit miffed when the ansa-phone message for fault problems suggested looking on the web site for answers WHEN IT WASN'T BL**DY WORKING!!!!
