Skype Headsets etc

Just wondering what people used when on Skype?

I've just started to use it alot more, but have had some problems with my headset. When speaking to one of my mates the headset started cutting out (loose connection somewhere), just got VERY frustating - in fact I actually ended up PAYING to speak to him on the landline.

My headset had (it has now been resigned to the bin) jack plugs to my laptop, but I think I'd rather have a USB connection. Ideally, I'd like it wirefree, but that might make the replacement too expensive.

Any ideas?

Ta

You can get a blue-tooth headset off Ebay for about £30

3D,

Have you thought about going down the Bluetooth route? Am currently running Skype through speekers on laptop with remote microphone (non wireless). The only problem being is that you have to be away from your pc 1-2m othgerwise it tend to be a little echoey. My mate has just purchased a bluetooth headset and dongle (100m) and it works well down the other end of his garden which is 40m from his pc. If you want can get info from him and forward on.

Regards

StevieH

I use a "plantronics" usb headset and have had excellent results!
check out the skype offers, i have just this morning recieved a "bud" type headset/mic free to "pass on to a friend" after a msg from skype inviting me to take up the offer! I intend to set this up on my stepsons lappy and will post the results as and when there are any.
mike.
edit: just had a look at the pack, bud, disk, and 30 free skype out minutes!

Just as a matter of interest, before you use bluetooth, it is important to realise that this runs on almost exactly the same frequency as a microwave oven and you are thinking of plugging this into your ear, right next to your most important diving computer!

But the power from a microwave is in the order of 750-1000W, whereas a Bluetooth headset operates in the region of 1mW, 1 millions times less powerful, so I think you would have to sit for a very long time before anything happened. In addition, I think your thick skull ( ) would provide some protection as there isn't much water in the bone to vibrate.

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.
