Its also a lot easier to get Matlab to work on a PC, especially when there is a license for PCs that keeps being updated, unlike for the Macs.
I have no idea what all that means, i just "want something with a cool casing and nice graphics from my hardware."
Although with OsX (based on Unix and complete with command line interface) and the latest Intel chips (able to run WinXP), you've got the possibility of 3 os's in one box! Should keep most users happy...

What I meant was I'm at the back end of a physics PhD. If I have anything to run that could be affected by the system crashing its generally a long run of a program, in which case I run it on one of the Suns within the group.

However for 99% of what I'm doing I run within a piece of software called matlab, which whilst it will run on a mac it runs far better (from speaking to people who have tried) on a PC, and the research group has a licence for it for PCs, something they don't have for those running macs.

But thats going far too far down a techie line for me...
