New iTunes User

OK
So I have always used Windows Media Player, but decided to give iTunes a go. Most of my collection is in MP3 format, only a few are in WMA. Now, I have opened my music folder into iTuns, and it has copied everything over to my specified iTunes directory in MP3 format and converted the WMAs to AAC.
If I ant to convert my whole library to AAC, do I have to convert them all using the Advanced option, then go and delete all the MP3s left behind?
Also, what does consolidation do?
Any hints and tips gratefully received
Regards
Martin

If they are already mp3, there's no point in converting them, you won't gain anything, just keep the option for new songs you import from CD.
Consolidate library copies all the files into your specified 'iTunes music' folder. After you run this, you should be able to delete the source files. **Check First!!!**
Hope this helps

Cheers for that
Think I'll stick with WMP then - it seemed a good idea, but I like the fact that I can do what I want with the music in WMP and not have to worry about protection.
Thanks anyway
