PDA/SatNav

I need help - I have only just started to look at these combined devices and am getting confused - too much choice - must be an age thing

I understand the principles but can anyone recommend a PDA that will, amongst other things, run V planner and act as a full function SatNav with the appropriate GPS/Bluetooth bit? I don't want a phone as well.

Thanks in advance

Richard

I've got a Nokia 6630 which does TomTom and also JDeco. Plus you can even run Excel and Word on it. Looked at getting a PDA but the phone will do everything I want it to, has a decent battery life (if you don't run bluetooth on it) and I'll always take it with me. Not particularly impressed with PDA's yet- they seem somewhat of a compromise.

Phone was £60 off eBay and the mounting kit for the car a fiver from Tescos. Bluetooth thingy was £40 off eBay but you can get cheaper ones.

I like my PDA, I don't want a big phone. Take a look at ebay something like this
eBay.co.uk: HP/COMPAQ IPAQ RX1955 1950 POCKET PC/PDA SEALED ~WARNTY (item 140007315015 end time 19-Jul-06 23:00:00 BST)

If you want to run satnav you will need a bigger memory card, but I bought a 1gb one anyway which will hold just about anything I need to put on it.

My TomTom navigator5 cost me £99 again from eBay came loaded on a card.

I have added Vplanner, my Alladin Travel trak, Nigel's gas blending programme and still loads of space.

Hi I have an Ipaq 4150 with tomtom5, Vplanner with all the new gascalc software, usual games etc and a scan of my passport/ Licence / DAN card etc etc.

So pleased with it esp when the traffic gets busy and you just head off the tailback for a 10 second reroute!!

The bluetooth consoles on ebay for around £45 are good - charge from a nokia phone charger and last a good 20 hours (south to Scapa no problem - even told me when I was getting on the ferry!! - just as well it was in)

Copilot Live 6 that runs on PPC is very very good. Much better than Tomtom3 used to be on my Ipaq 3870 but can't speak for latest incarnations. Runs fast and reliably on my Orange SPV M600 which is just a small PPC with a phone built in. Seamless bluetooth connection, under £100 for the software and Bluetooth GPS off ebay, and the M600 was a free upgrade from Orange and is a lovely bit of kit (available under other names on other networks, but they are all the HTC Prophet).

OMG, I am the original techno freak, as I travel half the time going to Dive centres. The Lappy is too big, mobile does not have the easy to use sync so I got a pda that I use to Navigate around Europe and the USA.

I got a Dell Axim PDA from totalpda.co.uk for £250 including tomtom 5. The Axim has all the bells and whistles, pocket word, 2gb SD card, MS word, outlook, excel, GPS cradle and receiver, but the best thing is that it is WIFI, so it activesyncs with the PC & Lappy wirelessly and I can have a Skype call on it anywhere just like using a mobley! It's the mutts nuts as
