Old belt drive technology?

The belt drive on my record deck has broken - not only that, in the process it must have got caught somehow and stretched considerably (ie I can't rely on taking any measurements from it).

Hitachi haven't done this sort of stuff for over 10 years and can't tell me anything OR can't be bothered to find out!

Anyone know of anywhere tofind out/get this kind of info?

Throw that old skool stuff in the bin and get youself a proper direct drive turntable.

You'll find it much easier to use when scratchin' or mixing up some phat beatz. innit

get the make and model and serial number and stick it into google with the word 'spares' after it

but it'll probably be more economic in the long run to go to richer sounds and get yourself a new one - or ebay for a second hand technics 1210/1200

wot monkeypony said about direct drive - better option.... even if you ain't Karl Cox...

But ....but.....but ......my baby! We've been together for years, decades even .........

All those drunken hours listening to music ..... never even remembered properly, let alone forgotten.

I'm one of those sad people that anthromorphizes AND views inanimate objects as treasured friends ....... why, I can still remember receiving my Hitachi stacking hi-fi .........

"Let it go" you say?

most good recored shops (I mean good ones) will be able to get something for you.

Is it a flat or a round belt?
Is the motor suspended or fixed to the sub-platter?

At the end of the day, how much do you care? do you want it good or do you just want it working?
