Unlocking a mobile phone

Dudes, am wishin to pick the brains of someone who knows about mobile phones.

Mrs sean has just bought a new dinky ickle nokia phone, and i am wishin to upgrade to her old nokia 6230. When i put my simcard in her phone it says it's restricted and asks me for a code.

Does anyone know how to get round this or where i can get a code from?

the 6230 is a vodaphone contract phone, and my simcard is a tesco mobile pay as you go.

I paid abour 3 quid on some internet site when I did it.
Sorry, I can't remember the site, but I found it with google, there are loads.

I dunno if you could cheek Tesco to do it for you on account of the fact that you'll be making loads of calls on their network

AFAIK, once it's unlocked, it's ok for any network.

cheers mate, i found the sires but i can't work out if i'm sposed to have the old simcard in when i unlock it or my tesco simcard in, don't 'spose you remember do ya?

I don't think that it matters, as long as the phone is all booted up, as it's to do with the phone, not either of the sims.

You'll probably be asked things like the IMEI(?) number and this is usually to be found under the battery

A bit like writing the serial number on the CD of one's 'backup' software
