It's a while since I did this, but I think once you have the download from the Tomtom site, there is an executable file which asks you where you want to install the maps.

I think there is a Tomtom folder in the base memory of the PDA which contains a file which tells the software which map is currently in use.

Tomtom have the maps quite tightly tied up with installation codes and machine specific activation codes etc etc, so if you have bought your maps from anyone other than Tomtom this may explain some of the dificulties you are having.

I think you need to connect the PDA to a PC and install from your original CD or something like that. Time to get your instruction book out I think!

If you have a cradle, remove the existing maps from the card (TT5 works best with a 256mb card) them from your sd card. Then put the cd in your puter, then the auto run will ask you where you want to install the program. Once done use the 2nd CD (I assume you are using TT5 and want to install GB Plus, which ahs the basic Europe maps?) Then the auto run will ask you where you want to install it, tick your SD card and it will install.

Once installed it will ask you to run first time and that is where you tick which map to use. Also if you want speed cameras, I use POISOFT and that has Spain, Germany, France and dutch speed camrera DATS.

It is quicker it you load the maps (about 160mb) directly on your SD card using a card reader than usind your sync.

You will then have to activate it online and this is where I hope it has not been registered on another machine as it will not work.

Hope this helps?
