| Laptop for school. Going to get a laptop for my younger daughter. Thought this looked reasonable price and spec, but no experience of Fujitsu lappies. Any thoughts? | There was a guy selling ex-military laptops on e-bay in armoured cases. Might be worth a look.

| The new dell laptops are awful and since they shifted their call centre to india the customer service has gone south as well. Too big, too heavy and given the specs decidely unimpressive performance. Oh and you don't get a copy of windows, you get a recovery cd which restores you PC to the settings that it shipped with. Could carry on this rant but will pass. Lets say when I buy a new one it won't be from Dell.

| Try Stirlingxs.co.uk for some good reconditioned ones. The Panasonic toughbook at £169 is good for kicking around the playground. |

| $100, is the cheapest NEW laptop ive seen, sure enough it's probably not got windows XP (that may be a good thing) but it does have a 1Mhz processor and it doesnt need a power supply, that can come in the form of your arm because it is also the worlds first wind up p.c. I dont know the rest of its details because i only seen it in a magazine. But if your interested the magazine is BBC's focus magazine. I tried looking for the article in it but couldnt find it online. I doubt it's a serious contender though unless your on a budget |

| I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro myself but an older model. I've had it (and abused it) for 3 years and it is still going strong. It has been on hard boats in Orkney, been hauled along to numerous courses, etc and never been too much of a problem. I did swap out the Hard Drive when it became a little noisy however I would be happy to buy another one again. Great budget laptop. Cheers! Dave |
