| If you are Windows XP, it sounds like it's wanting a USB2.0 driver and you will get that if you upgrade to service pack 2 (Think sp1 has it too). A little more info in exactly the version of Windows would be good.

Look about for a subfolder called i386 and point the next request for a driver there. |

| If NO usb devices are located, it is possible your bios might be set with the usb ports disabled. RH click My Computer, go to properties then choose the Hardware tab - then see if the usb controllers exist, if not then maybe the bios does have the on-board ports disabled. Of course if you do have usb controllers, listed and are using ports on the front of the PC it could be they were never plugged in when it was assembled, I have had one of those! John R |

| Go to My Computer, Right Click and choose Manage. When the Management Console appears click on Device Manager and look at Universal Serial Bus Controllers. If they have a yellow question mark over them then somethng is not right, likely the driver is not installed or is not installed correctly. First thing to try is to Right Click on the offending device and choose Update Driver and follow the instructions to try and locate the driver on your system if it is there. If not then you will need to either get it from your original disk (which you don't have) or download it from the Internet. To resolve this I would go to the website of the computer manufacturer and you can usually down load the required drivers for your model from there (at last you can for most of the major manufacturers) See also The PC Master -- Device Manager which shows this in pictures. Just one thought, if by any chance you are still running Windows 95 (is anyone?) then it does not support USB, however it would be high time to get a new computer. Cheers! Dave |
