PDA's

so I've finally "bitten the bullet" and bought a HP 5550, well when I say bought, its only a few months old

now I'm not that technically minded, but I'm presuming the slotty thing in the top is for some kind of memory?
do I need some? if so, what type/how big/where from ?

if I plug the pluggy thing at the end of the cradle into the back of my laptop, will they talk to each even if they are different versions of MS? (laptop doesn't have word/excel, PDA does)

how do I get more games downloaded onto the PDA, via the laptop I presume? similar question for vplanner

as you can tell, I didn't exactly get a manual with it

TIA for any help

Gary what does it describe the memory slot as, I have a HP IPAQ and it takes secure digital media (SD cards) I have a 1gb in mine.

I got mine from good old eBay something like this eBay.co.uk: Sandisk 1GB SECURE DIGITAL SD MEMORY CARD (UK) (item 200018853516 end time 23-Aug-06 17:15:00 BST)

the slotty thing at the top is certainly for a memory card. If it's an SD card I have a 256mb one going. To you, free of charge

Useful for word, excel or pdf' docs, music, photos, anything really. Let me know if you want the memory card.

Cheers.

Ian

I put V planner on my recently acquired HP 5550 yesterday - doddle and working well.

Only snag is I have 2 copies and am not sure how to get rid of No 2.

No games though.. yet

Just checked TotalPDA and it does say it has an expansion slot for SD cards.

Gary if you go to the HP website you can download the manual. Don't think they put them in the box now anyway, far too big

Specifications from TotalPDA here

Yes there is some onboard memory but it depends on what you want to add to it, I have TomTom on mine and that alone needs 128mb, the 1gb ones will do me just fine and they are hardly any money now.

You should be able to do it using Active Sync on your PC or laptop.

that would be most kind, it'll get me started at least, I can't see myself doing anything too technical on it, I bought it more to keep my 2007 diary dive schedule on as its already getting a bit busy and the filofax is soooooo dated!

I shall PM you my details

I have satnav fitted in the new car and can't see myself doing anything exciting on it, I'll give JAG's 256 card a go and see how I get on

so perhaps just a few games for those autumn weekends when the boat is blown out
