(1) The image isn't actually there, so it can't be shown, but the web page code knows it is supposed to be showing something, thus you get that blank box with the X in it. Or the person who wrote the page has messed up the link to the image. If it is either of these, then there is nothing you can do. Everyone will see it like that and it needs fixed at the programmer's end. (2) It is not a standard image (eg gif or jg) and is a Flash or some other sort of image or embedded thing. If that is that case then in FireFox or Internet Explorer you should get a little message (usually at the top of the page on a new colored bar) that pops up and tells you that you need to install something to make it work. If you click on the message and follow the instructions, it will normally take you to the place where the extra programme bit can be found so you can install it (just about always for free). (3) You have some sort of image blocker on your computer or on a firewall / server / proxy (this is more likely to be at work). If that is the case, then most if no all the images will be like that, not just a few. Or possibly just those things that the computer thinks are adverts. (4) Something else. If this only happens now and again, and you don't get any other messages, pop-ups, bleeps or anything like that, it is most likely No. 1 and there is nothing you can do, nor anything to worry about.
