Serial to USB adaptor.

Anyone know where I can get a serial cable to USB port adaptor?

My Analyst dive computer software is designed for W95/98 systems but won't work on my XP work computer. Tech support think it will if I plug the transfer cable in through a USB port?

I've just ordered one myself from Misco.

Misco.co.uk - Videk USB 1.1 to DB9M Serial Adaptor Cable

Hope this helps

That looks like it - a bit dearer than I'd hoped as the link may still not work.

Cheers for the link!

I use a serial to USB adaptor with a Suunto Mosquito cable (it's a home made one from a bloke on eBay) and a Garmin GPS unit with no problems.

Hiya, if it doesn't work PM me as I have one that's only ever been out of the packaging once and never been used. I'll do it for the same price. It has a larger serial adapter with it.

OK, let me tell you a short story about one of these adapters:

I've spent two whole days trying to connect a PC to a Humidity Control Panel system in a winery 500km away. After 1 day of no success I called the calvary, had the Spanish representatives drive some 300km, after 6 hours still no luck. We replaced, hardware, software, wires, panels, did the whole darn lot. Just as we about to give up we replaced the serial to USB converter, nope no luck, tried with another converter and guess what it worked. Two brand new converters did not work (with correct software installed) but the 3rd one did! We spent of 36 man hours all because of the b**dy converter. The darn failure have cost me over €800.

So don't trust these as far as you can throw them! They are guarneteed to raise your blood pressure and the the computer into the wine press!!
