What about Paint, it ships with Windoze, I'm not sure how good it is these days, but it sure is free

Anyhow, I find SketchUp isn't great for precision work - fine for the intended purpose (roughing stuff out in 3D) but then getting all the details right takes for ever, and it lacks a lot of fairly basic tools that you'd find in 'proper' CAD s/w.

Janos - a quick search of download.com gave this lot :

Some of them may have watermarks or restrictions on what you can save etc., but I reckon you'll find something that fits the bill.

How about Visio? Very useful software, I designed our bathroom layout using it. If you can't find a trial version anywhere, give me a shout and I may be able to help.
