| Depends how much you value your time. For business use I tend to recommend Dell and HP/Compaq. 3 years on site for the hardware is useful and drivers and upgrades are easy to locate. They put time into making sure everything in their systems is compatible. Cheap bottom line is fine, but it will cost more in the long run if you have to pay for support. Intel Core Duo is the hot business processor at the moment. 1Gb Ram for a desktop and 512 for a laptop will cope with most things. Hard drive space is reatively cheap, just remember that you might want to back it up. Dell monitors are pretty good. Sony and Phillips have good budget TFTs (flat panel). Any new system with the above specs will meet your needs. Even entry level processing power is quite amazing these days.

| Hi We sell computers on ebay. Most of the PC's will do what you ask, but I might be tempted to up the RAM to 2GB, if you deal with large tiffs and the like for design work. As Matt said, the new Intel processor is the fastest at the moment, but AMD's 64bit processor has dropped in price significantly, so there are some real bargains at the moment. I don't usually advertise on YD, and hopefully I won't get accused of blatant advertising, but here is a link to our ebay feedback if you are interested. We can also spec one up for you to meet your own requirements if you call during weekdays, and laptops too. Andy |

The Dell Intel Zeon 64bit dual core aren't bad. Using 8gig of RAM, but I could probabley get away with 6. ![]() |
