| One of two things could be up the swanny here. Either the motherboard keyboard controller or the keyboard itself. As you've swapped out the K/B with a known working one, then it's the M/B. Not good news as more likely as not, you won't be able to replace the board. So it's either an upgarde or a new PC...

| Thanks Cheers for that. We were thinking about getting a new PC at xmas, so it looks like that decision has been made already. |

| Try a USB keyboard Simple answer I tried with a mates computer with the same problem. I think his daughter plugged in the keyboard while it was switched on. Which blew the keyboard buffer. However the computer has to be new enough to use it. Windows 98 or better NOT Windows NT. And you cannot get to the BIOS settings (Press F2 to run setup) Regards Nick

| Whoooa! Motherboard sounds knackered, but can be replaced quite cheap! (from £30 ish, depending on the processor) Unless you want a new PC In which case I can take your old, broken, worth nothing PC and dispose of it for a small fee.(from £30 ish, depending on the processor |

| If you can borrow a USB keyboard see if that works depends how old the PC is as to whether it does or not. Worth a try though. Last edited by benwild : 19-10-06 at 11:07 PM. |
