Thumbs up Website Cry for HELP!!

As we recently moved home and business address I thought we could do with a new website and a mate of mine told me of a site that offers a number of free website templates to download.

I'm fairly competent on my PC (in a way) and I downloaded several to have a play around with, using the MS Frontpage version we have I managed to alter some text to what we required. The problem I have is with some of the graphics on the web pages I chose. These contain text that I just cannot seem to edit, even when I have downloaded specific image editors to try and alter them!! I do want to keep them, but want different text.

So, do any of you YD techy whizz kids out there either know of any "Dumb Dumb friendly" website building software I can get/download. Or better still, take the work from me and do it for us?

Now, before you all pm me with offers on your designs, I'll be upfront and say that we cannot afford anything major with loads of flashy bells and whistles on it. Our tax year recently ended and we are somewhat lighter on funds!! However, we do not expect charity and believe in paying a fair price for the right thing.

We just want something informative and straight to the point, no e-commerce stuff and no fancy database links etc.

Any help is welcome and examples appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

Do you mean the text is part of the image? If so there is not a lot you can do as there may not be a layer underneath (i.e. the image has been altered to contain the text).

The best solution is to buy the rights to the raw images and use those

Hi Conor
I think so, I've tried a couple of editors and nothing seems to be able to highlight the text separately in order to change it. As you say, it must all be part of the same thing.

Best get the job done by someone else who knows what they are doing!!

Hi,

If it's not major, ie, a couple of information type pages, I don't mind having a look for you.

I have several examples but forgotton the URL's for now, on a spreadsheet at home. I currently have my own site at Nark Nark: Home, if you are interested, please let me know and I can forward the examples this evening. If you could let me have me an idea of your business nature and requirements that would be good.

Thanks,

Ian

P.S. Do you currently have a website or would a domain name need to be registered also?

PM'd you already. Have our own domain (had it for some years now), lost our website last year when we were able to change to broadband, but it was old anyway!! Hence the need to renew it.

I'm wondering whether the original HTML is written with the image tags pointing at the original location and not the new ones you are creating.

Tell us where your site is and we can view the HTML and tell you what is happening.

Try Fasthosts

They run a rocksolid hosting platform, with email, webserver space and loads of advanced services and extras, but don't charge a fortune for them.

They also have a Sitebuilder Utility, which walks you through questions and designs a site based on your requirements and answers to the questions before allowing you to finalise your site design - might be worth a try.

£3.99 per month including hosting - more info on sitebuilder here....
