Sean, you do realise that they actually sent you a pack with this information and asked you to keep it safe, if you could please get it out and have a look it will make things go a lot more smootely and may be we could help you.

Even the full error message would be good, please not I am a computerporgrammer, and have experiance in this sort of things

Thanks for tryin folks, it's now askin for a password that i can't remember and i would probably have filed any documentation in the circular filing cabinet

It's SMTP not SMPT - which may help with that part.

Orange don't use Secure Password Authentication so untick the box that says use this.

any help?

To be honest i dunno until i can remember what the bloody password is, my usual password isn't being recognised

It's your access password - whatever you used for dial-up and have now configured for your Livebox (or whatever DSL modem you're using). It's also what you use for accessing your mail via the web.

Your SMTP host should be configured to be "smtp.orangehome.co.uk" in your settings.

Looks like you've got the right hostname here, but you need to get your username and password right.

Your username should be "xxxx.fsnet.co.uk" and your password is, as I mentioned above, your access password. You shouldn't have an "@" in your username for setting up POP access to your email.

I am definately using the correct password, because i have no problem logging into my mail via the orange website

uncheck the this connection uses ssl box

as stated in previous posts, your getting there!!

All sorted now thanks mate, in my muppetry i'd created another account, by deleting that and filling the correct details in my proper account seems to have sorted it out.

Only took me 18 months
