Thought I'd just share this...

I've recently found http://www.last.fm/ - an internet radio service with a difference. Rather than just streaming someone else's choice of music at you it chooses tracks from a (pretty extensive if you know anything about my musical tastes!) library based on what you tell it you like, and you can 'vote' on each track that you get too, a bit like Tivo for the radio if you know what Tivo is....

By downloading the Last.FM app it'll even keep track of what you listen to from your own music on your PC and include that in your profile so it gets better as you listen. It's not all samey stuff either - far more varied than most broadcast radio playlists.

The app is spyware free and released under a GPL so is fairly safe to download, and there's no advertising (pop ups or audio).

TiVo for radio ? Wonderful idea. I will set up an account ASAP. I remember there being a similar thing around a little while ago, but it never seemed to work too well for me. This one immediately threw up a few groups that I liked and knew, and some new things to try, just by typing in one band name.

Top stuff... incoming!

Bringing this back to the top of the topics, I've been using this for about a week now, and it is indeed TiVo for Radio. Some of the recommendations have been great, and its definitely starting to learn the types of music that I like!
I would recommend it, if you like to just have music playing when you are on the computer, etc...
