| AGP Speed compatability I am hoping someone may be able to know this - I currently have an ASUS P4PEBP motherboard which has the AGP port rated at x4 For various reasons I need to get a new graphics card with tv out, but do not want Radeon or ATI - I am looking at a 128MB Club 3D GeForce FX5200 - but its AGP is x8 Is this likely to work in the motherboard? Many thanks

The issues with AGP are the signalling voltages and the physical slot. The physical slot protects agains the wrong voltages as you cannot mix them.. . AGP4 and AGP8 are compatible. As virtually no machine RAM is actually used by the card anyway the benifit of AGP8 is more than questionable, performance advantages come from the chipset on the graphics card not the APG interface. AGP Compatibility 128MB Club 3D GeForce FX5200 is specifically an AGP4/AGP8 card so there should be no compatibility issues - famous last words

| Thanks for the reply Jonny. I had actually looked at that webpage before posting, but it was not 100% clear on the situation and I also asked a friend who used to own a computer store and he could not give me a definitive answer either. I do try to find the answers myself first before asking anyone for information as usually its pretty easy to find the answers. I will wait for the card to come through from Rob now though as he has kindly offered me one.
