| Another happy FireFox user here Yep, I have also installed the new IE with no problems - just to answer the question. But as it is just trying to copy FireFox, and I think FF have done a better job of it, I don't use IE much. Just for those few sites that still think everyone uses IE and optimises for it. Like any new install, play around with it till you get it they way you want to look and work.

| I'm using it on my laptop, but had loads of problems with it at first. As soon as you opened IE, it immediately came up with the message along the lines of "IE has commited an error and has to close" - the one where you then get a choice of sending or not sending an error report. Took me a few days to sort it out, as I needed to get on the internet to find the solution, but of course this was not an option!! When I got home I went on the desktop (running IE6) to find the answer I basically had to disable all the add-ons. It now works fine. Though I have left the desktop running on IE6 as don't want to have to sort that out too! Jen

| I have had it running for a couple of weeks now, and once I had sorted out the clear type (?) thingy, it has worked fine.

| I get a lot of "crashes" - where I get the standard message "IE has encountered a problem and needs to shut down"... it is mega annoying.. but maybe it is just me... Must admit, preferred the old version.. personally think it is more userfriendly... B x

| Question IE7 - Is it safe to install now?? I've installed it loads of time but it doesn't work - that is it loads up on Firefox but when I try to use it - it just hangs and stops everything else working - consequently I'm not getting any microsoft automatic updates and if I try uploading (or is it downloading) through Firefox they don't seem to work either!!! Sorry to crash into this but help would be appreciated. Steven |

If you have XP, then take the machine back prior to those updates using system restore, then set your machine to download updates automatically.
