Advice sought: 26ish" LCD TV

apparently Hifi audio shops sell mounting plates for 'around a tenner' and 'mounts for about 25 quid'

thats where I am looking next..

also - anyone heard of CostCo ? apparently I should be checking them out too for electricals.. Avonmouth is nearest me..

I use Ebuyer for a lot of my purchases (never had a problem) and they have a decent deal on a 27" Samsung LCD. Worth a "Gander" - www.ebuyer.com

Our 18 year old B&O TV is playing up so we started looking around for a new one, not intending to buy yet. We were in John Lewis looking at them, with a view of getting a 27" or perhaps a 32" set. Our lounge is quite large so a 32" would be OK but we didn't want anything too obtrusive. In terms of quality, the Sony sets looked the best. We then decided to pop into the Sony Centre to see what they had on sale and the salesman was showing us the alternatives when he mentioned in passing that the new 'W' series had just won loads of awards. This is only available in 40" and 46" but when we compared the quality with the other Sony sets, it was indeed absolutely stunning.

We came home, did a quick search on the internet and found we could get it £240 cheaper than the Sony Centre sale price so we have gone for a much bigger set than planned. However, the official Sony wall mounting plate is £445! Just for a bit of metal! However, another search on the internet shows specialist suppliers than do them for £65.

Helfrich, then working for the Central Research Laboratories of Hoffmann-LaRoche in Switzerland (Swiss patent No. 532 261). James Fergason at Kent State University filed an identical patent in the USA in February 1971. In 1971 the company of Fergason ILIXCO (now LXD Incorporated) produced the first LCDs based on the TN-effect, which soon superseded the poor-quality DSM types due improvements of lower operating voltages and lower power consumption.
In 1972, the first active-matrix liquid crystal display panel was produced in the United States by T. Peter Brody.[1]
