Cannot Share Folders in Windows XP Media for MSN Messenger

I have just had a message from someone wanting to share a folder on MSN but the little message box says my computer cannot share folders.

If I go into Windows Explorer, the sharing option is greyed out.

Any ideas?

Regards

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

Yes, and that is when the message about 'Your Computer Does Support Sharing Folders' pops up.

In explorer I have a 'Shared Folders' folder... ?

I'm afraid I can't help on that one, I didn't have to do anything to my sharing file on msn.

I do know of this site Mess with MSN Messenger: msn emoticons msn names display pictures download if you look at the top left under important announcemess.be, you can downlaod a patch for msn it lets you change all the setting like multiple nudge and sending exe files there may be one in there for sharing files.

I think it may have more to do with XP MCE but I can make a folder in Explorer 'shareable' on the network, just wonder why it won't allow it from MSN Live Messenger.

Have you enabled File and printer sharing.

It's under control panel, network connections select then connection your using and select properties, and make sure the sharing option is ticked

As I read this, this is Internet Connection Sharing, rather than folder/printer sharing which is accessed by right clicking on the object within Windows Explorer and allowing people to share that way (which I have done).

Am I missing something?

I'm running Both XP Pro, and XP Home, and I can only share a folder If I Use the shared Documents Folder, Anything with My Documents will not share.

So it might be worth creating a folder there and seeing if you can share that
