| can't comment on Dell laptops. Happy with my Dell desktop. I bought a laptop for my sister recently. Acer were better value than Dell, assuming quality is OK, not received yet. Shop Acer UK - Buy Cheap Acer Aspire Laptops, Acer TravelMate Laptops, Acer Ferrari Notebooks, Acer TFT Monitors, Acer Projectors and Acer Veriton and Aspire Computers HTH Dave.

| I use a three year old Inspiron at work. I have never had a problem with it - it is excellent. I have a Dimension 5100 at home and it is usually fine. However 360 days after purchase it died. Fortunately, Dell did manage to sort it all out (for free as I had 5 days of warranty left) and we are happy again. The dell keyboard with the desktop is odd. But you get used to it pretty soon. The laptop one ios like any other laptop one - a PITA - so I use an external one plugged in.

| i have a dell desktop, and work gave me a dell laptop. The desktop has been great, but the laptop is not. It has had 3 motherboards replaced. 2 memory chips replaced and the dell support (we got the full works support) was crap.

| Dell I have a Dell XPS M1710 Laptop, I wouldn't call it an extremely portable laptop it is heavy but then again it is aimed as a desktop replacement. Saying that I am used to carting it around uni all day now. I would recommend dell to anyone be it as a desktop or laptop. |

| I have an elderly dell lattitude cx that I take to sea with me for the gps program (tsunamis 99, backup for the dgps and gps sets already aboard) when I'm not using it, it lives in the kids room as a network puter and they give it rough justice! it keeps on rocking along without complaint. (it's well 'ard) mike.
