| BT wireless hub with a non BT provider I have acquired a home hub from a neighbour who had 2 delivered by BT by accident. Now. Me mam would like a wireless router for home but uses Force9. Do you know if the BT kit can be used on a non BT broadband service? In the instructions it says not but you know the way of things- where there is a will...

| Normally the hub is set to an account but you may find a reset button on there somewhere and then be able to access the settings using the information supplied by your provider put them in and it should work. Failing that PM me you address and I'll send you my old router and netgear wireless access point its only 11mg but its free Graham

| It has been known for BT not to require a username and password when it's one of their own lines, as they can ascertain connectivity by the line itself, so if you're using anything apart from BT then it's a bit of a gamble. However, one thing I would say is that BT Home Hub security isn't that good. One of my colleagues regularly uses his neighbours BT Home Hub which advertises itself nicely. Of course, if you want to get Technical, check this website out. If you're going to go wireless, make sure you can enable WPA-PSK, make the password pretty hard (like a sentence), use MAC Authentication, make the SSID something utterly random and fairly long, and make sure that you disable SSID broadcast once you've got everything up and running.
