XP wont load

Hi all
Been having a number of issues the past few weeks with my pc so I went out bought a MB dual core pro 512 memory and 300 gig hard drive
since then been a non starter with the bits ended up buying a new case as well due to some sort of electrical short, well now I am getting a fecking xp install error it wont copy certain files OR will after a number of attempts of pressing enter.
The question is a Go out buy feckin vista
OR
Give up nah kiddin but has anyone else had this issue
Disk has been buffed and polished a number of times and looks shiney no scratches to top or bottom?
Any ideas before I go spend $160 on home premium upgrade

Just grab a friend's copy of the CD - you have your own XP serial number/cd key - that's the important bit that proves you paid for it. The medium you get the code via isn't going to enrage any anti-piracy advocates.

Although.... Vista looks highly cool though, windows media center is a very nice product and comes bundled with vista too.

yep bought it no load as I get blue screen on both so wasted $160
took the whole lot back TICKED with the whole thing

Well that's gotta suck. You've got my sympathy but not much advice. Maybe just give the whole problem to the shop and get them to sort it all at once?
