Orange, I'm not usually one to rant but...... I recently started a new contract with Orange, I already have 1 contract, but I have 2 phones and the other was with 3 and ran out. I coudn't change my existing phone onto the contract as it was only available to new or renewing contracts!! Anyway, I get free broadband, yippe I thought, I don't download much so that will do. I received my letter stating that I would get an email with my broadband password on, I had my email password. My previous broadband connection expired last night and I had no email. So I rang them, I was on the phone for 1hr 28 minutes with no response!! I used my other phone and the office had closed 5 minutes before, which was an hour earlier than their letter stated, so I could have stayed on all night. That's not my rant. I've just rung them again, and got straight through. I explained I wasn't happy with their service last night, they said sorry (bull$h1t), then went on to explain the situation. The password for my email is the same for my braodband, that's not what they said last week when I rang up chasing teh email!! I said I had tried that and it didn't work!! I was put through to technical, they asked me what lights were on the modem, I told them I was not using the modem as I have a wireless router, which I had told the saleperson when I signed up. I didn't want the modem, it's useless to me. "Well we can't give you support if you aren't using the modem!!" "SO now I have to install the Speedtouch modem so you will talk to me properly" the technical department then hung up on me! I have to say this is crap and sucks, if I thought Orange would even read a letter of complaint I would write one. As far as I am concerned they can have both their phones back and the modem and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. I wonder whether I could get trading standards or someone onto it. I told them I would be using a router, they won't help as I am using it! Meanwhile no internet at home except on my PDA! p.s. I was warned the Orange broadband is crap, but I never thought they would be stupid as well!!

I have my broadband through Orange purely because they bought Freeserve. (I didn't find out this had happened until I found a payment to orange on my bank statement and queried it). I stopped getting e-mail yesterday, and rang them up to sort out why. They could only offer support if I was using Outlook Express (I use Microsoft Outlook), and I use a Netgear wireless router, so they said they couldn't help as I wasn't using their modem. I explained that I had freeserve broadband, and only ended up with Orange because of the take over, so I've never had the option of their modem! I did, in the end, after about 3 hours on the phone, establish that I had to change the name of my SMTP and my POP server. That made it worse. I then changed one of them back to whatit had been before and fixed it. They were absolutley hopeless. Have a green in sympathy!

OK, update. After talking with orange again, apparently my line hasn't been switched over by BT! From Pipex that is. Orange were supposed to arrange this 6 weeks ago, and haven't checked to see that it happened. They're contacting BT tomorrow.

The latest. Pipex have put me back on for a month to give Orange the time the obviously need to do the switchover. I have another problem now though, and it is a strange one!! I can receive any emails! I can't view my own websites, I can't get on SWM, I can't ftp to my websites. I can't access my running clubs forum! I can access YD though as well as ebay!! This is getting strange!!

I threatened to report them to Watchdog, and did I also threatened to cancel both my phones, all my work phones and tell everyone how crap they are. I have told everyone now, but as 2 phones are under contract they'll probably win that one.
