Laptop screen looks vertically squshed

Funny one this...

My laptop screen powered up as usual when I noticed that I had to large black borders on the side in 1024x768 resolution. I got rid of the borders but now the whole screen seems squashed vertically and I can't for the life of me figure out why or how to get it back to normal! Anyone know anything about this please?

Thanks!!

:-)

Do you know the native res of the screen? LCDs display resolutions that are not their 'native' one by either putting black borders or scaling the image to match.

It sounds like you dropped a notch in res and the laptop handled this by drawing black where it didn't have an image. Usually a BIOS setting.

It also sounds like it's a widescreen format LCD and your Operating System is trying to drive it like a regular 4:3 screen.

Option 1:
Find your native res, tell the OS (windows?) to use this res.

Option 2:
(re)Teach your OS what sort of LCD you have and it should restrict the list of available resolutions to only those that the screen will be comfortable with. Then apply option 1 to get the 'best' one.

Ooo, thanks!

I just re-installed the drivers and that seems to have worked.

Weird.

Cheers!
