Question HD Tvs
If a tv is HD ready does that mean it will recieve digital tv ? ie will it recieve freeview without the need for an extra box ?

Nope afraid not, it just means that it can display 1080i and 1080p when connected to a HD tuner....

Ah yes, an example of the craziness of the plan to switch everyone over to digital (or rather, the very poor implementation of that plan!). In the 15-28" TV's i've been looking at recently (all LCD) probably less than a quarter have a built-in freeview tuner!

Only the most expensive ones can display 1080p. These are now being marketed as full 1080 HD. Most HD Ready sets are 720. We have a Sony 'W' series which is the full1080 and the quality is amazing - it interpolates from the standard picture so that the line structure is invisible. The picture is almost indistinguishable from SKY HD transmissions.
