Why? MS progress bars
So. What's the point of having a progress bar (when installing any MS program) when all it does when it gets to the end is start all over again?

It makes it totally meaningless. I may as well time installations by episodes of Roobarb and Custard.

I remember a product I used to support that the install routine was a bar and a number in percent, the number got to 114% and the bar went past the end of the dialog box, always made us chuckle....

I remember one of our products (I didn't write it) which had so many bugs that all the engineers could come up with as an error message whenever something went tits up was "Something Bad has Happened!"

A disgruntled programmer wrote a nice easter egg into a piece of software by Novell called Managewise.

If you called your Novell server 'Netware' or 'Network' or anything beginning with 'Ne...' then the installation would get to 95% and then fail with a random error.

Don't you just love developers.
