Question Recommend me an AV and Firewall???

OK, have been using McAfee to protect the home PC - AV and Firewall

For some reason it decided to crash - have had a real problem uninstalling and re-installing, so have decided to replace it with something that won't trash the PC

Can anyone suggest something that:
a) works
b) will protect the PC - both AV and Firewall
c) is updatable

Thanks

Look no further - Chris uses exactly the same combination as me.

Tried and tested.

For the AV theres no doubt that NOD32 is the way to go. Small footprint, fast and ruthlessly efficient its hard to beat.

Nod32

For firewall my own preference is Sygate Personal.

Sygate Personal Firewall - Reviews and free downloads at Download.com

I've been running both for the last four years and have never had a virus.

NOD32 for AV or Kaspersky Internet Security as a total solution.
Much better detection & security than the free & more common options and far less system resources used.
I personally wouldn't trust a free security package.

Kaspersky is £27 on Amazon at the moment.

The Sygate Personal Firewall failed after installation!!!

So, downloaded AVG7.5 Security Centre - free 30day trial - if its works, I'll upgrade and buy the pack

Thanks for your help

Kaspersky is the mut's nuts, we sell the business version.

V7 is out soon and has the smallest footprint by far of any AV. The Internet Security package includes all you need, (Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Spam, Firewall, Popup Blocker, Anti-Phishing etc etc.)

They are trying to gain marketshare in the Home user market at the moment and have signed up a special deal with PC World, 3 licences for £30 total (they're normally £40 each)
