| laptop advice I have been offered a laptop second hand. Its a simple question about how much do you think it is worth. The laptop was new 13 months ago and bought for £650 from a large PC outlet. How much would you expect to pay for one that cost that amount then? ps Not sure about the model, spec etc but base the answer on the new price.

| Hi Zepp I know you want to ignore spec, but the market on these moves so fast it realy is important. I always recon anything second hand is normaly worth about half of what it was new, but you will get a duel core new one with a Gb of ram and a warranty for under £400, and these are suitable for most peoples uses, so you have to pay way less for a second hand one to be worth it. Have a look on e-bay and see what an equivalent model goes for, you may be surprised. James

| Don't ignore the spec and the software You can't ignore the spec and software and be fair to your sister and yourself if it is 13 months old it is probably underspecced compared to what you would get for that price now - but she might have got a really good deal - you also need to think about what software will come with it - a good selection of software that you want to use could make it worth more than the earlier suggestions. But as the previous reply said have a look on ebay once you know the spec and the software . |

£350.00 for a good spec laptop, with antivirus for a year and a 12 month warantee, fresh build, with no rubbish on it. Secondhand would have to be really cheap to beat that. Grant. |

| Don't pay for anti virus, just got to AVG Free Advisor - Free antivirus and anti-spyware downloads Similarly OpenOffice.org: Home will do for most users, ( Thanks arfie ) I also prefer firefox and thunderbird to their msoft counterparts
