| IBM thinkpad 600e cmos battery I need to replace the cmos battery on my IBM laptop- does anybody have any instructions for how to do this? Is it an easy job? Do I need a soldering iron? Non technical answers please- my idea of precision is a large hammer where computers are concerned? Ian |

| blimey this brings back memories as I have done loads of these when I was on Break/Fix. If I remember rightly the cmos is kept under the memory (on the base of the laptop). Pull the clips away and the memory pops up and then you simply pull the white connector with the tweezers away from the two pins and the cmos is out. Problem is i did so many 560's/600's/21's that they all blend into each other

| I have a 600X which I believe is pretty much identical and the battery is below the memory cover, but you don't need to take the memory out. The battery on mine is below a white plastic protector (highlighted on pic 1), just pull the plastic back to get at the battery, unplug it and then take the battery out. Arfie
