Question IT help needed with Outlook

Hi,

I need some help with Outlook. I seem to have lost some folders in my 'Personal Folders' bit. Personal Folders is stored on my C drive and not the server like the inbox etc..

I was moving some mail into the personal folders and one minute a few folders were there, the next they were not shown/missing. Doing a search in Outlook for some of the email contacts shows them but only the folder names and not the tree/location so I can't navigate to them in Outlook/C-drive. I wondered if it is possible to hide certai folders like you can with some files in Explorer, and if I have done this by accident?

It doesn't help that in Outlook all the mail is stored in one massive file and not in a directory structure lke Netscape used to.

Please help!

Thanks,

Dave C

Hmm, the most common thing I've seen in a situation like this is that you may have dragged/dropped the folders into another folder.

My Dad does this a lot

Nah, I've looked for them, and can't find them anywhere.

Thanks Paul,

Do a search for '.pst' files.

Make sure that you computer shows 'all files'. Stansard settings don't show certain files including some .pst

Give this a try, hope this will help.

I lost nearly all my emails over a certain period earlier in the year and had to get a special program tool to enable me to retrieve them, but couldn't retrieve all.

PM me dave with a relevant email address and I'll try and send you a link.
It may work.

Graham

Question Update

When I search for the emails in the missing directories I can find them but the search pane only shows the mail directory and not its location so I can't see if its been moved. Plus when I tried to create a new directory with the same name I received an error message saying that the folder already exists.

Is there any way i could have changed the folders to become hidden?

Dave, have sent you the files as promised, hope they work. Let me know if you receive OK.

Question All fine now ???????

Well, I blame a program called Citrix, used to logon to Unix/Linus machines remotely from a PC.

I doesn't get along with Outlook and they usually have hissy fits and stop working when they are both started at the same time. Well Citrix died today when I was doing some email admin - moving mail into folders etc.. thats when the missing folders thing started. Now I have just had to start Citrix again to recover my old session and once I'd closed it down - properly this time - and started Outlook, Kell Surpise The missing folders are back ????

How confused but relieved am I?

If you right click on any part of the "tree" inc the very top "Outlook Today" folder you can change some options there but I don't see that happening by accident?
