Hi chaps...

Comet have just started an offer;

SkyHD for £99 + £30 installation fee.

You have to sign up for Sky Talk too. Your landline/broadband contract stays as is, its just your landline calls are charged via Sky.

I don't use my landline (apart from for broadband) so this is by far the best deal to get HD.

On Friday Sky didn't even know about this offer and wanted to charge me £299 for the HD box! When I threatened to switch to Virgin Media to try and get them to bring the price down I was thanked for my custom and asked when I'd my subscription cancelled! I don't know how people get these alleged deals for threatening to cancel!?

presumably that's for "new subscribers only", so trying to negotiate a new package using that as an example is unlikely to cut any ice with them.

I would be interested in hard evidence of folks winning a good deal by signing up to a contract renewal, since I suspect Sky may well know that I'm not in a cabled area and so the threat of going to cable is a bluff.

Thanks Justin nice one. Just rung their customer services, this is indeed the offer, they said they'd call me back later.

I'm out of contract now, so I suppose I would be a new subscriber.
