| Try Google maps instead. I know you can mark places of interest on it, but I'm not sure about plotting tracks. ColinM

| I'm sure if you go Google Earth Plus you can log GPS routes etc. Google Earth plus it cost $20 a year. Does not include export of tracks. I use mapmyrun for my running routes. Last edited by Okeanos : 28-11-07 at 03:58 PM. |

| What you want is possible - i have a programme on my mobile phone called Mobitrack Pro which talks to a bluetooth GPS and you can download maps to the phone and have track displayed etc. There are programmes to create your own maps to download to Garmins and others too. Look up Memory map (for uk OS), also look up OziExplorer (The Official OziExplorer Web Site - GPS Mapping Software for Magellan, Garmin, Lowrance, Eagle, MLR Receivers) which allows you to create maps from images and send. For example you can download the google earth maps or satellites, load into this program, enter the boundaries and send to GPS unit and so on. Also search for programs to convert .GPX to .KML and other formats.

| As mentioned mapmyrun will do what you want, but you want one of the sister sites, mapmywalk or mapmyhike If you have a GPS and can download the data then use GPSVisualizer (its American hence the 'z') but it'll convert your GPS data into kml (Google Earth). Very useful for working out where you went wrong...again...and then again ![]()

| Umm, google earth lets you manually plot a path in it and save it as an object along with the rest of your placemarks etc. As stated by others, GoogleEarth+ (for a fee) hooks into a GPS unit to to this for you.
