I have used VNC for years, it is easy to setup and use. I would not regard Netbus as suitable because of its potential to be used as a backdoor.

Alternatively, if all you are worried about is websites, take an occasional look at the log files on your router, it should tell you how in the manual. This should give you all the information you need.

This will not allow remote viewing, but install it on their PC's and it will take screenshots at regular intervals which you can then view.

PC-Parent - Parental Monitoring Software - It watches your PC when you can't

Well the tools exist, I use VNC to control other PCs. However should you do it?

This sounds like a trust issue to me, which works both ways. Are you willing to risk an irriversible breakdown of trust between the two of you because you start spying on her?

I'm not a parent, so didn't want to say anything, but was thinking along similar lines. Surely you want to ensure that they don't happen across any websites or applications which are completely innapropriate, but sitting looking over their shoulder seems a bit harsh.

But as I said, easy for me to say, I'm not a parent.

Just use TightVNC and set it up so that it allows you to view the screen without grabbing the mouse and keyboard. You will need to pre-mod the firewall and get it working perfectly before you actually deploy it. The last thing you want is for her to find out that you are watching her.

Personally if you are really into doing this, then why not consider a keylogger. It will record all keystrokes.

SourceForge.net: Files

If you reach super paranoia level, you could always proxy all net traffic through a server and run wireshark/libcap and do full packet analysis for keywords.

The family side of things is up to the OP. Every action has an opposite one, just bear that in mind before you do things.
