| two choices, either crop the picture to the same shape as your screen so that windows doesn't have to stretch it to make it fit or choose "centre" in the options box.

| Yazzy. First find out the resolution that your desktop runs at: right click on the desktop picture, select properties, click settings tab. you will see it under the slider (mid left hand side). Note this number (for example 1024 by 768 or 1280 by 1024 etc) This number dictates the size of the image to be displayed. take the image you want to display and using your favourite photo package resize your new image to the numbers above. you might need to trim a bit to make it fit.. The reason it looks squashed is that while you might be running your desktop at say 1024 by 768 the image you place on the desktop might be say 1024 by 1024. The pc will render the image at 1024 pixels high - that is fine as it has 1024 pixels to play with. But it will also try to render 1024 pixels wide - the problem is that you only have 768 pixels to play with - so it tried to fit 1024 into 768 and you get a squashed picture. The best option is under the desktop tab (from the first thing we did above) and select Postion: 'Center' from the drop down box. If the image is too big - it will simply flow over the edges of the page out of sight.. hope this makes sense and helps?

| Yazz, The photo is unlikely to be the same ratio as the screen. Right click on your desktop, select 'properties', then the 'desktop' tab. I have a small dropdown (fnar fnar before anyone says anything) called 'Position', you probably have this set to 'stretch', 'center' does not change the ratio, although the photo might not now fit the screen. So resizing the actual image might be required. HTH, Adrian
