| Hi, I would also give Spybot a try. I use a combination of Spybot, Ad-Aware and the spy-ware remover in ZoneAlarn Pro to keep my laptop free from nasties. They don't always find everything on their own but used one after the other they seem to keep things clean and tidy. Cheers, Mark. |

| Witchie is right IMO Don't flatten it, it's overkill. I agree some of these things are a PITA to get rid of but 9/10 times if it's that serious, it will be all over the AV type forums pretty quickly. Let's see what it is, sometimes some judicious reg editing can do the job. |

| You could always do a system restore. Takes a few minutes and has sorted out many an attack in the past. |

| Yep, Start windows in safe mode, then restore the sytem back to before you had the problem, I had a similar issue on my pc and that sorted it. gareth. |

| All these bits of advice are well and good and they all work in different situations, but unless you know what you have you don't know which will work best. You could do a restore and it make no difference. Like someone else mentioned I always partition my hard disk and have all documents on a separate partition from the program installations, but some infections can affect both partitions. Different antivirus and spyware/adware programs can help, but they often conflict with each other. The best advice I can give is have a read of THIS on Majorgeeks. They will get you using things like Hijack this to identify exactly what is running and help you step by step to remove pretty much anything and will recommend free software that will remove most things. | Help needed, im infected LOL wonder if you would have got this much advice if you'd got a STD LOL Joke'ing aside, I have run spy bot ,agv, and zone alarm ,there all free and never had any rubbish , on my old pc i had norton and it was (well in a word CRAP). Good luck ( and keep rubbing the cream on ) ![]() |

| I no longer recommend AVG Free, Avast Home Edition is where its at now. Also after discovering the delights of Comodo Firewall, i would never recommend Zonealarm, nor install it on computers. Free antivirus - avast! 4 Home Edition Download Comodo™ Free Firewall Software Download

| Well, its couple of weeks on, and a few emails have gone between myself and Norton. But finally out of the blue, a Norton pop up appeared informing me of a high security risk and it has removed the Trojan. All is back to normal. I did try a number of the programs mentioned with no success, so Im a pretty happy customer... Just thought I'd keep all who posted informed. Nick |
